starting point class, march 2017
This is your personal invitation to join the next “Starting Point” small group at West Linn Lutheran. “Starting Point” is a gathering for people who are new to West Linn Lutheran Church, and are interested in discussing and learning more about Christian faith in a Lutheran context. This is a place to bring your questions and experiences! It is also a place to meet new people.
We will meet on Sunday mornings between services, 9:30 to 10:45 am. There will be childcare provided for those who need it each Sunday morning. We plan to begin the class on March 5th, and proceed each Sunday through April 9th Please RSVP to me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the church office, 503-656-0110.
If you are not a Lutheran, but are interested in joining West Linn as a member, this small group will help you learn more about faith and Christianity from the Lutheran perspective – as we have said, a place to bring your questions and ideas!
If you are a Lutheran, you can become a member at any time simply by asking for a transfer of your membership from your previous congregation. However, you will benefit from coming to the small group by getting to know other people new to West Linn, and by the orientation to how West Linn works.
We have designated December 11 or 18th as the next Sunday for receiving new members at West Linn. There will be a luncheon and orientation to the church on that day for all new members
"Starting Point" is a conversation place at West Linn Lutheran Church where we look at key concepts of the Christian faith from a Lutheran perspective. Everyone is welcome to bring his and her experience and questions to the conversation. One of our conversation partners in the session on God creating relationship with us is Pastor Nadia Bolz-Weber, ELCA pastor of House for All Sinners and Saints, Denver. You can watch her presentation to the youth at the ELCA National Youth Gathering 2012 here.
