AFFIRMATION OF BAPTISM PROMISES FAITH STATEMENTFaith Statement Process
As part of the study process, 9th grade students and sponsors watch this video from the 2012 ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans. Listen for Nadia's story of death and resurrection. How was she dying? How was she grasped by God? What do you think she means that humans have "an enormous capacity for destruction" and "an enormous capacity for good"? Nadia encourages us all to share our faith when she declares, "You have a feast to be shared with hungry people"! 9th Grade youth write a faith statement as an opportunity for them to explore their relationship with God and the people around them.

All students and sponsors are asked to finish reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by August 30.
Here are three questions to think about: 1. How does Edmund change in the course of the story? How does Aslan help him change? 2. What is the "Deep Magic"? What promises did Aslan make and what would they accomplish? 3. How is Aslan like Jesus? How is he different? |

Due to COVID, the confirmation program this year will be part of the worship service on Sunday November 8th, at 9 am. The confirmands and their families and sponsors will come into ZOOM leaders for that Sunday and participate via video in the Affirmation of baptism.
The students are currently working with their sponsors on their Faith Statements and will share those statements via video - to be uploaded to our ZOOM technician (Elizabeth HK). These videos will be incorporated into the sermon for that Sunday as they speak about their Faith!

By October 20th:
- Your choice of a Bible verse for your youth being confirmed (and what version you prefer). The staff will prepare a gift for your youth with this verse!
- The number of people who will be in your luncheon party on Saturday. Be sure to include your student's sponsor and sponsor spouse (if coming). There will be a per person cost for the items that need to be purchased for the meal. That can be paid with a check or cash before the luncheon or at the luncheon.
- Your confirmation student at church by 8:00 a.m. on Confirmation Sunday Morning so they can share in the confirmation ritual at both services. A cake reception will be held for them between services in coffee fellowship.
- Your participation in the laying on of hands during the worship service that you normally attend on Confirmation Sunday. Parents, siblings, baptism sponsors, grandparents are all appropriate people to participate in the blessing of the confirmation youth. Pastor Donna needs to know which service your family will be attending.
