CHRISTMAS - Celebrating the Nativity of Our Lord!
"Merry Christmas!" Our time of watching and waiting and preparing is over as we welcome the newborn Jesus. Happy Birthday, Jesus!
Christmas is the shortest season in the church year - Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, followed by one or two Sundays taking us to the Day of the Epiphany. These are days for rejoicing in the mystery of God coming in human flesh (the Incarnation) as a baby, fulfilling centuries of promise.
So, we celebrate - singing songs of joy and peace with the angels, racing to the manger with the shepherds, spending quiet time together with Mary and Joseph, and we give and receive gifts out of love.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ... And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth.
John 1:1, 14
