Originally called Flutter-Bys, these art works celebrate the beauty and universal appeal of butterflies and their lowly cousins, moths.
Butterflies are deep and powerful representations of life and transformation. Many cultures associate the butterfly with our souls. The Christian religion sees the butterfly as a symbol of resurrection. Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope, and life. Butterflies can symbolize the passing of a loved one, and lifting the spirit from the bonds of this physical life. Or, life struggles endured to emerge as a better person. Butterflies are also a symbol for celebrations, weddings, life, and journeys. They can also be a sign of hope for those who suffer through spiritual, physical, emotional and mental struggles which call out for metamorphosis. Think of the most transformational times in your past and see if you can figure out what your greatest butterfly moment is so far. Let the memory of that time guide you and remind you that as long you accept the idea of change and embrace it, you’ll eventually spread your wings and soar… All works are made with found objects, recycled paper and thrift shop frames, leaving a small carbon footprint and finding beauty in what others throw away. |
