Easter Season 2020 - "New Creation; Living Hope"
Arising out of resurrection and the Easter story from John’s Gospel is a new creation understanding, where those who connect to God who loves the cosmos so much also are connected to renewal and new creation. This “newness” gives us hope in the midst of all the changes we see around us. This hope manifests itself in “new life” for those who continue to survive and thrive!
Our companions in this season will be our siblings who lived in the 1st century and who read or heard the letters written by Peter or a disciple of his. The letter brings words of encouragement, love, and blessing in difficult times. Like us, they did not personally encounter Jesus in the flesh but now move forward with “living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” This way of living as Christ followers is one of joy and unity, even in the presence of alienation from the surrounding culture and the reality of suffering and change.
"By great mercy, God has given us a new birth into
a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
from the dead. " 1 Peter 1:3

Our new life in Christ this Easter season challenges us in some practical ways that we will explore:
What does “genuine mutual love” look like?
How do I put my story of faith into words that I can share with others?
When do we “live for righteousness”?
What is our unity in Christ?
